Mason Razavi is a guitarist, composer, and guitar teacher based in San Jose, CA. He holds a B.M. from the Berklee College of Music and a M.A. in jazz studies from San Jose State University.
Although he’s performed extensively in a number of styles, Mason is primarily a jazz and classical guitarist. He can be found playing solo classical guitar, in jazz combos or with singer Lisa Schultz in their duo Lisa and Mason, in the pit orchestra for musical theatre performances and in a number of other settings. A passionate teacher, Mason runs a busy private lesson studio in Cupertino, CA and enjoys sharing his passion with students of virtually all ages, styles and levels. Mason’s interests as a composer are also varied and include jazz compositions, orchestral works, and many new pieces for solo classical guitar.
Mason has studied guitar with many jazz and rock greats including Rick Vandivier, Jon Damian, Jon Finn and Joe Stump. His composition and arranging teachers include Dr. Aaron Lington, Ken Pullig, Mike Farquharson, and Dr. Paul Setziol, among others.
When not immersed in his musical self, Mason is playing ice or roller hockey or watching the San Jose Sharks on tv or in person with his partial season tickets. A self-proclaimed internet nut, he is a co-founder of Halfstepup.com. Mason is happily married to his wife Sara, who is an actress, fellow internet nut and hockey fanatic.
